An American in Madrid

Four years ago, I moved from Somerville, Massachusetts to Spain.  I packed up all necessary belongings (including one towel and bed sheets) into two large suitcases and one hockey bag (I don’t play hockey) and boarded a one-way plane to Spain wearing as many coats as I could fit on my body.

The bed sheets did not fit my new bed.  It turned out that double beds in the United States are bigger than double beds in Spain.  And that was just the beginning…

Nothing but the Start began as a blog about life in Madrid, with posts as commentary, in one form or another, on Spanish life as an expat.  The site now includes, in addition to musings on Madrid, posts about yoga, living, and also tips for traveling in Spain and beyond.
